Day 1 - Queenstown walk around

After having our lunch, we called Jeff to see whether he could pick up us or not. Jeff was very friendly and he drove to the downtown area to meet us. The couple has three daughters and they lived at Fernhill which is closed to Queenstown downtown area.

They offered a room to us, which was very nice!

After unpacking, we spent some time walking back to the downtown area. We are not shopping persons, so we just did window shopping :P Most are fashion shops, outdoor equipments and souvenirs.
The shopping area at Queenstown. As I come from a city filled with shopping malls, this really not interest me.

One of the tourist attractions at Queenstown. Take a crusie tour on the Lake Wakatipu.
We read the tourist information took from the Queenstown Airport and found that there is a Kiwi Zoo at Queenstown. Well as Kiwi is the national bird of New Zealand, we both thought that it was worth going there in our trip, even though the ticket price was a kind of awesome, NZD76 for two! Kiwi is a night bird and they will only come out during night time. So in Kiwi Zoo, the Kiwi was located inside a house and behind a glass wall. The house was very dark and one could only barely see the Kiwi moving...Although inside the Zoo one could also see some Mori history exhibition and a bird show...One thing to note, the ticket price already included some donation for Kiwi protection, that makes my money meaningful!

Walking inside the Zoo, not a bad way to feel the good air in New Zealand.
So after peeking the Kiwi and having some walks, we were back to the downtown area to try some food. We saw a long line in front of a cafe, which is called Patagonia. We both wanted to take a rest and have a coffee or something else, so we lined up and found out that it sold some very good looking ice-cream and chocolate! We ordered ice-cream and coffee, though it was quite expensive, but they tasted really good! All total should be around NZD10!

After the snacks, we have a walk around Lake Wakatipu.

Then we have our dinner at a diner called Cranky Franks. We ordered meatballs and pizza, NZD44.6. I did prefer to cook for myself instead...! So there was no photo!
